Burger recipe | how to make burger at home

A veggie burger patty can be made with easily available vegetables like fresh beans, carrots,  green peas, soya, planner etc but which is the best veggie for a burger? One of the important ingredients in the patty is potato, you can add any veggies with potato even you can make an aloo tikki burger. The most famous and more loved burger is a cheeseburger. Let's find out how to make an easy veggie burger with an Indian touch.

Serves: 

8 crispy veggie patties


        Veggie patty mixture


Ingredients:


1. Poha/ rice flakes 1/3rd cup

2. Oil 1 tsp

3. Butter 1 tbsp 

4. Onions½ medium sized chopped

5. Garlic 1 tbsp chopped 

6. French beans 1/3rd cup chopped

7. Carrots 1/3rd cup chopped 

8. Green peas 1/3rd cup, boiled

9. Finely chopped green chillies 1-2 no

10. Powdered spices: 

     Turmeric powder ½ tsp, 

     Red chilli powder 1 tsp, 

     Dry mango/amchur  powder 2 tsp,        

     Cumin powder 1 tsp, 

     A pinch of garam masala, 

11. Boiled potatoes 5-6 medium,         80%cooked potatoes.    

12. Dash of salt, 

 13. Coriander leaves. 


Method:


1. Take the poha (rice flakes) in a strainer, rinse it with fresh water and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Once it's soaked, mash it & keep it aside. 

2. Preheat the pan, add oil & butter, then add onions and garlic, and sauté well. 

3. Once the onions turn translucent add the french beans, carrots, boiled green peas and green chillies, stir and cook on high flame for 2-3 minutes, slow down the flame and add the powdered spices,

4. Sauté, and add grated boiled potatoes and salt to taste, cook on medium flame till cooked completely. Further, add the soaked and mashed poha, and chopped coriander leaves. Use a potato masher to lightly mash and combine the mixture well. Turn off the flame remove the mixture in a  bowl and allow it to cool down to room temperature. 

5. Once it cools down, cover it with a cling wrap & refrigerate for 12-15 minutes. Keep it in the refrigerator to shape the patties.


 Batter For the patty


Ingredients: 


1. Maida/refined flour 1 cup.,

2. Corn flour ½ cup, 

3. Salt to taste, 

4. Cold water as required,  

5. Oil 1 tbsp

6. Bread crumbs for coating 1cup,

7. Oil for frying 


Method :


1. Take a big mixing bowl, add maida/refined flour, cornflour and salt, mix well and add cold water as required and oil, whisk well to make a semi-thick lump-free batter.  

2. Take another wide bowl, add bread crumbs as required to coat the patty, and season the bread crumbs with salt & black pepper.

 3. Now, take the cooled veggie patty mixture, take a spoonful of mixture and shape it like a patty, make sure the size of the tikki should be a little smaller than your burger buns.

4. Dip patty in corn and maida batter, cover the party in the breadcrumbs and keep them on a plate. 

5. Repeat this for the rest of the parties, keep these patties in the fridge for 15 minutes. 

6. Meanwhile preheat the oil in a deep pan and deep fry these patties to a golden brown. 

7. Take a burger bum slit in between and apply butter for toasting the burger buns. 


for Burger decoration

1. Mayonnaise,

2. Fresh lettuce, 

3. Crispy  fried veggie patty, 

4.  Chees, 

5. Sliced onion, 

6. Sliced tomatoes. 


Method 


1. Take a burger bum slit in between and apply butter for toasting the burger buns. 

2. Preheat a pan on medium flame, and roast the burger bun with butter. 

3. Take out the burger bun on the plate and apply mayonnaise ketchup on the bottom bun. 

4. Put veggie patty then again some mayonnaise, fresh lettuce, sliced onion, sliced tomato and lots of cheese. 

5. Crispy veggie cheeseburger is ready to serve with ketchup.
